Call For Action Against Google By European Organizations
More than 20 European organizations have called for the European Union to take swift action against Google, demanding the imposition of fines for violations of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). They warn that delays in the investigation could have serious consequences for media and companies in Europe, potentially leading some to bankruptcy.
In a letter addressed to EU officials, the organizations emphasize that it is essential to make a decision as soon as possible and to halt the dominance of large technology companies. According to them, Google’s practices are harming competition and reducing development opportunities for European businesses. They are calling for a formal decision regarding non-compliance with the rules and the imposition of punitive measures, including substantial fines.
On the other hand, Google claims to have made changes to comply with the DMA’s requirements, but critics argue that these changes are insufficient. The DMA aims to limit the power of large technology companies and ensure fairer competition in the EU’s digital market.
